San Antonio Missions National Historical Park

The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas. As the park brochure states, the park "represents the merging of cultures that created an identity neither wholly Indigenous nor wholly Spanish."

There are four missions in the park - Mission San José (established in 1720 and known as the "Queen of the Missions") (this is also where the Visitor Center is located), Mission San Juan (established in 1731), Mission Espada (established in 1731), and Mission Concepción (established in 1731). Each of the Missions is unique in its own right, and each is an active parish church in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

I first stopped at the Visitor Center to get oriented. I watched a film, and then visited Mission San José. Then I drove to other three Missions, taking my time to tour each one of them.
