Ozona, Texas

On the way to Fredericksburg, I also took the exit for Ozona, Texas. This was the town where I had planned to stay the night. I now know that I made the right decision to drive on to Fredericksburg.

When I got Ozona, I did a quick tour of the town square which apparently has a Davy Crockett monument (Ozona is the county seat of Crockett County), but I missed it entirely and so I don't have a photo of it! This happens on road trips, and I sometimes resort to the internet to find a photo I can use without being sued for copyright infringement. (On the Key West road trip, I used a photo from the internet of the smallest post office in America, since I had driven past the structure doing about 60 mph and didn't think to stop.)

However, I did take a photo of a statue in the Ozona town square entitled "The Ties That Bind." This statue was erected by the Ozona Women's Forum in 1996 as a memorial to the pioneer families that came to settle the West.

After about 25 minutes, I headed back to I-10 for the drive to Fredericksburg.
